Miromar Design Center Designers of Distinction Honored at Industry Event

Estero, FL- Miromar Design Center’s 2011 Designers of Distinction were honored at an awards ceremony held during an industry appreciation cocktail reception on Tuesday December 6 at Miromar Design Center. Guests included all industry trade associations, architects, builders, realtors, showroom partners, honored guests and media.

The annual Designers of Distinction awards recognize the talents, loyalty and support of interior design professionals doing business at the Miromar Design Center. The center’s 45 distinctive showrooms nominate a designer each month, based on their professionalism, talent and commitment to the showroom partners.

This year’s recipients were Janet Bilotti of Janet Bilotti Interiors, Kira Krümm International Design, Brigitte Mareschal of Edom Design, Candice Sebring-Kelber of Candice Kelber Interior Design, Melissa Allen of MGA Interior Design, Kevin Steffanni of Kevin Steffanni Design Group, Robert Bowen SPACE Interior Design Firm, Lisa Baldwin of Lisa Baldwin Interiors, Ivy Scheinholz from Ivy Mary, Inc, Beth Ann Tuyls from Remodeling with Innovation by Bay Builders, Creasha Weglarz Interiors, Inc. & Weglarz Design and the team of Elizabeth Lodge and Tracey Rowley from Four Step Design. The 2011 Designers of Distinction will serve a term on an interior design advisory board at Miromar Design Center. The program will continue with the selection of the January 2012 Designer of Distinction.

Design Center Names Designer of Distinction

Melissa Allen, the principal of MGA Interior Design, has been named Miromar Design Center’s Designer of Distinction for the month of May. The award is based on nominations from representatives of the center’s 45 furniture and interior design showrooms and retail stores. Designers are selected for their professionalism, creativity and commitment to the showroom partners.

With more than 18 years of experience in residential interior design, Ms. Allen is a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers and also of the Sustainable Furnishings Council. She holds a bachelor’s degree in interior design from Ohio State University and is certified by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification.

One of the highlights of the Parade of Homes is the ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) Dream House, which is built by Stock Construction within Lakoya at Lely Resort. Fifteen interior designers are responsible for completing the interior design for a different section of the home. The home will remain on display this winter season. It will be sold furnished with the proceeds for the furnishings being donated to the ASID Education Fund.

ASID Dream House included in Lely Resort Parade of Homes

The 27th annual Single Site Parade of Homes takes place Friday-Sunday, Feb. 4-6 and 11-13, at Lely Resort, hosted by Stock Development and the Collier Building Industry Association. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day; admission is $5 to benefit the foundation for the CBIA.

The event showcases the latest residential trends in the Collier County market, including architectural innovations, building technologies, interior and landscape designs.

"We are very excited to host the Parade of Homes," says Claudine Léger-Wetzel, vice president of sales and marketing for Stock Development. This year's parade is one of the biggest ever held, she adds, with 34 model homes in eight neighborhoods furnished by 13 area interior design firms.

Priced from the $180,000s to more than $2 million, residences in Lely Resort range from flats and townhomes to coach homes, twin villas, single-family homes and custom built estate homes. Homebuilders in the community include: Divco Construction, Lundstrom Development, Cordoba Development and Stock Construction.

Interior design firms working on the parade homes are: Adele Lundstrom Interiors, East Indies Home & Design, Valentine & Stone,e, Diane Powell Interiors, AI Design, DDC Design, Expressions - in Design, Pizzazz Interiors, Robb & Stucky Interiors, Design Harmony, Vogue Interiors, Freestyle Design Studio Interiors and KVS Design.

A highlight of the Parade of Homes is the American Society of Interior Designers Dream House by Stock Construction within Lakoyaa at Lely Resort.

Fifteen interior designerss have decorated various sections - of the Dream House. It will remain open through theh winter season and will be sold as furnished, with proceeds from the furnishings being donated to the ASID Education Fund. Many of the designers are planning to conduct seminars in the house on topics ranging from draperies to fabrics to artwork.

Completed in a soft tropical theme, the Dream House showcases many environmentally friendly products, says Emilio Sadez, president of International Design Source. "This is not a 'wild artistic dream,' but rather a beautifully designed home that will be an enjoyment to view," he adds. Community of the Year

Lely Resort, named CBIA's 2010 Community of the Year, charted 165 new home sales in 2010. Residents live within steps of three championship golf courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., Lee Trevino and Gary Player and have access to two golf clubhouses with formal dining rooms, members' bar and grill, locker rooms with lounges and a complete golf shop.

Nearby, The Players Club & Spa provides an abundance of activities, including saunas and whirlpools and a 3,500-square-foot fitness center, coordinated by a full-time staff. Outside is a 7,500-square-foot swimming pool and a 2,500-square-foot exercise and lap pool with cabanas. A tiki bar has seven 50-inch flat screen TVs.

Lely Resort's tennis facility has hosted world-class tennis events such as the Outback Champion Series and has seven Har-Tru tennis courts and a private tennis pro shop.

Stock Development has recently announced plans that will double the size of The Players Club & Spa.

Stock Construction has begun interior work on the ASID of Florida South Dream House in the Lakoya neighborhood at Lely Resort.

Stock is teaming up with 15 local interior design firms to complete the ASID Dream House for entry in the 2011 Collier Building Industry Association’s Parade of Homes.

Each interior designer is responsible for completing the interior design for a different section of the home. The home will be on display in the Parade of Homes and the winter season. It will be sold furnished with the proceeds from the furnishings being donated to the ASID Education Fund.
